 LAMPWORK GLASS BEAD MAKING  
by Cynthia Tucker

Join Cynthia to learn the fascinating and beautiful art of glass bead making.  Each class session offers 5 hours of instruction, demonstration and experience using the torch.  Students will learn to make basic round beads, adding decoration by using tool techniques and stringer, plus how to make twisted cane.  The class will cover basic safety information, types of glass, equipment and tools.  Fee: $135.00 per session, plus $40.00 material fee.  The materials fee includes a detailed, full color, 112 page book to take home; written by the engineer that developed the Hot Head torch that will be used to make beads.    

Monday and Tuesday night sessions are from 6:30 – 9:00 PM each night:

To attend the last half of class: $50.00 registration plus $25.00 materials fee

Introductory to Photoshop, Digital Darkroom & Photography

Instructor Barbara West is free lance photographer; she enjoys creating and adjusting photos in the Photoshop program. 

Students will learn to work with Photoshop to improve and enhance photos as well as create digital art.

 Requirements: Laptop computer with Photoshop CS3, (however any of the Photoshop programs should work for this class), photos to work with, a 3-ring binder, pencil and paper.  Optional: camera and reader to place them in your computer.  Make sure all photos are your own.

Tatting

 Tatting, a technique used to make a durable handmade lace, dates back to the early 19th century.  Learn basic tatting techniques and complete one project in class.  Contact Poplar Grove if you would like to learn tatting,  this class will be offered if there is enough interest. 

Basic Hatha Yoga

The ancient practice of basic gentle yoga will help increase your flexibility, strength and balance.  Join Janet as she starts a yoga practice for students in this area, you’ll be glad you did!  Starting Sept. 26, each Friday from 9:00 – 10:30 am, ongoing, as long as there is enough interest.   Bring a yoga mat and wear loose comfortable clothing or exercise wear.  Beginners to intermediate. Fee: $10.00 per class

 Rug Hooking 
by Judy Quintman

Judy, our instructor, has been featured in Rug Hooking Magazine! She teaches the traditional method of rug hooking using wool fabric strips and a hook.  Basic techniques and how to finish your piece will be covered.  Oct. 20 – Nov. 3, each Monday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.  Fee: $30.00, plus $20.00 materials kit.  Bring scissors

 Fresh Floral Arrangements 
by Doris Davis

Doris, owner of Sea Holly Floral Designs, will help you create special arrangements using fresh flowers, herbs and greenery.  Bring clippers, all other materials will be provided.  Optional: ribbon, other decorations to add if you wish certain colors.  All workshops are from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.  Fee: $40.00 each workshop.

Instructor Roza Starodubtseva

Roza has taught acting and movement improvisation and has degree in Occupational Therapy.  She focuses on healing through expressive activities.

Nia is a physical movement incorporating dance and exercise.  Recognized as one of the most innovative and safe cardiovascular programs and stress relievers; incorporates mind, soul and body.  For more information go to www.nianow.com.  Beginning Sept. 25 this class will be ongoing as long as there is enough interest.  Meeting from 5:00 - 6:00 pm each Thursday.  Fee: $10.00 per class or $35.00 for 4 classes.

 Crochet
Instructor Joyce Bragg

Joyce is a crochet and knitting designer and teacher. She has designs published in several books and magazines.

Beginning Crochet

Students will learn how to hold the hook, begin and make a chain, single crochet (sc) and double crochet (dc) stitch.  Practice in class until you have the proper gauge, learn how to read and follow a simple pattern.  Students will make a small clutch.  October 3 & 10, each Friday, 9:00 - 12:00.  Fee: $35.00.

 Crochet Finishing Techniques & Tips

Bring your crochet project for help, finishing tips, hints and professional advice.  Students will learn flat seaming for a professional look, special edgings for a more finished look and more.  Friday November 7, 9:00 - 12:00.  Fee: $25.00
